“Strengthening the Capacity of Civil Society Institutions to Prepare Reports for the Universal Periodic Review for Human Rights: Advancing Jordan’s Commitments in the Universal Periodic Review Cycle 2023-2024” Project
CDFJ, in partnership with the SAWT project funded by Internews, is implementing the project “Strengthening the Capacity of Civil Society Institutions to Prepare Reports for the Universal Periodic Review for Human Rights: Advancing Jordan’s Commitments in the Universal Periodic Review Cycle 2023-2024.” The project, which will be implemented over a period of 9 months (April-December 2023), aims to strengthen Jordan’s commitments to the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review by involving all relevant stakeholders.
The project seeks to achieve three goals:
- Strengthening the technical capabilities of 12 civil society organizations members of the Jordanian Civil Coalition to write individual and joint reports (shadow reports), and providing technical support to 6 civil society organizations to develop their reports to the fourth cycle of the universal periodic review.
- Increase media participation in efforts to strengthen Jordan’s commitments to the URP at its fourth session.
- Strengthening national coordination mechanisms among stakeholders and enhancing Jordan’s commitments in the fourth cycle of the UPR, including the preparation of the national report.
The project targets civil society organizations, journalists, and other relevant stakeholders including the Jordanian government through capacity-building training, improving Jordanian media coverage of the UPR, and facilitating dialogue discussions among stakeholders to strengthen Jordan’s commitments in the 2024 UPR cycle.
