The Court of Appeal has upheld the decision of the Court of First Instance to sentence journalist Heba Abu Taha to one year in prison.
CDFJ respects the decisions of the Jordanian judiciary and calls for the acceptance of replacing the prison sentence with community service, as Jordan has no record of imposing severe prison sentences on journalists.
CDFJ reiterates its call to review the Cybercrime Law, as urged by His Majesty the King, in light of its implementation and its impact on public rights and freedoms.
CDFJ also emphasizes its ongoing call for all journalists to exercise accuracy, objectivity, balance, and to seek the truth in their writings and publications.
