In partnership with the SAWT project funded by Internews, CDFJ began implementing the project “Building the internal capabilities of CDFJ in order to contribute to the implementation of the Center’s strategy 2022-2025.”
The project, which will be implemented over a period of 12 months (9/2023 until 8/2024), and was designed as a core fund to serve the implementation of the center’s strategic plan 2022-2025. In particular, it will feed into the implementation of key programs and projects implemented as part of this strategy.
The core funding will be used to expand the capacity of the center’s meeting room to be able to accommodate 30 people instead of 15 people. The core funding will also support the work of the Research and Advocacy Unit at CDFJ to continue producing and developing reports and studies on freedom of expression and other human rights.
In addition, the funding will serve to enhance the financial sustainability of CDFJ by investing more efforts in training the Center’s staff in writing and managing projects, developing financial policies, and enhancing the monitoring and evaluation skills of the Center’s staff. The Center for Defending Freedom of Journalists also plans to use part of the core funding to modernize its financial system, improve its financial systems and processes and meet the financial requirements of donors.
Furthermore, CDFJ plans to increase its outreach to the public while implementing its 2022-2025 strategic plan, and therefore, part of the core funding will be used to design and launch a new website for the Center. In addition, it will update and improve its information technology systems as needed to support the improvement of its internal capabilities and improve the work performance more efficiently.
